  • 첨단기술 입은 반려동물 산업! '2025 서초 펫테크 축제' 개최
    2025 서초 펫테크 축제 홍보 포스터 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 서울 서초구는 오는 11월 1일, 오후 1시부터 5시까지 서초문화예술공원 잔디광장에서 ‘2025 서초 펫테크 축제’를 개최한다고 밝혔다. 펫테크(Pet-Tech)는 반려동물을 의미하는 ‘Pet’과 기술을 의미하는 ‘Technology’의 합성어로, 반려동물을 위한 제품과 서비스를 사물인터넷(IoT), 인공지능(AI), 빅데이터 등 다양한 기술을 활용해 제공하는 것을 의미한다. 구는 반려동물 천만시대를 맞아 개최되는 이번 축제를 통해 펫테크 관련 산업 분야에 대한 체험을 제공하고, 반려인과 비반려인 모두가 서로 소통하는 기회를 제공한다는 계획이다. 주요 프로그램으로는 ▲서초 최고의 패셔니스타 강아지를 찾는 ‘반려견 펫션쇼’ ▲강아지 로봇공연 ▲허들넘기·라바콘 지그재그 등 3종 경기가 진행되는 ‘펫티켓 운동회’ ▲AI 오징어게임 ▲장기자랑 대회 등 4가지 메인 프로그램이 진행되며 AI 성격행동검사, AI 건강진단 등 다양한 체험 부스들도 운영된다. 또한 반려견놀이터, 포토존, 피크닉존, 푸드존 등 다양한 즐길거리도 함께 마련돼 축제에 활기를 더한다. 축제의 즐거움을 더하기 위한 다채로운 이벤트도 준비했다. 방문자들을 위한 행운권 추첨에 더해 메인 프로그램 4개 부문에서 입상한 참가자들에게는 푸짐한 상품이 수여된다. 이와 함께 서초동물사랑센터에서 반려견을 입양한 가족을 초청해 입양증서 전달식을 진행하고, 축제 전 열린 ‘반려동물 사진 공모전’ 입상자들을 대상으로 한 상장 수여 시상식도 함께 개최된다. 반려동물을 사랑하는 누구나 참여 가능하며, 프로그램 신청은 공식 홈페이지 또는 포스터의 QR코드 스캔을 통해 가능하다. 자세한 내용은 공식 홈페이지를 참고하면 된다. 전성수 서초구청장은 “‘2025 서초 펫테크 축제’는 반려견과 함께 다양한 펫테크 기술을 체험할 수 있는 소중한 시간”며 “반려인과 비반려인 모두가 소통하고 화합할 수 있는 자리가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

  • 농식품부, 사람과 동물이 함께 행복한 사회의 시작 제1회 '동물보호의 날'에 초대합니다
    제1회 동물보호의 날 기념 포스터 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부는 9월 26일 ~ 9월 27일 이틀간 부산 벡스코 제2전시장에서 ‘제1회 동물보호의 날’ 기념행사를 개최한다고 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 올해부터 10월 4일이 법정 기념일인 동물보호의 날로 지정됨에 따라 마련된 것으로, ‘동물 보호에서 복지로의 대전환’을 주제로 사람과 동물이 더불어 살아가는 문화를 널리 알리고 국민적 공감대를 확산하기 위해 기획됐다. 개막식은 9월 26일 14시에 열리며, 농식품부 장관, 부산시장, 국민의힘 김예지 의원을 비롯해 농림축산검역본부장, 농림수산식품교육문화정보원장 등 유관기관과 주요 동물보호단체장이 참석한다. 개막식에서는 동물복지 헌장 선언식, 농식품부와 봉사동물 기관 및 ㈜카카오와의 업무협약 체결, 동물복지 유공자 시상 등이 진행될 예정이다. 이번 개막식에서는 동물복지 헌장을 처음으로 선포한다. 민관이 함께 마련한 헌장은 우리 사회가 지향해야 할 동물복지의 기본 가치를 담아, 앞으로 동물복지 정책의 방향을 제시하고, 정부와 민간이 함께 실천할 행동 기준을 담은 약속이라는 데 중요한 의미가 있다. 또한, 우리 생활에서 중요한 임무를 수행하고 있는 봉사동물을 운용하는 6개 기관(국방부, 농식품부, 국토부, 관세청, 경찰청, 소방청)간 봉사동물복지 증진을 위한 업무협약과 동물 등록을 마친 반려인들이 카카오톡 앱을 통해 관련 제품 및 서비스 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 하는 ㈜카카오와의 업무협약도 준비된다. 앞으로 동물등록을 마친 반려인이 더 많은 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 민관 협력을 계속해 나갈 계획이다. 정책홍보관에는 농식품부를 중심으로 환경부, 해양수산부, 문화체육관광부가 함께 참여하여 △국정과제‧동물등록제도 및 봉사동물 소개(농식품부) △야생·멸종위기 동물(환경부) △해양동물(해수부) △반려동물 동반여행 및 문화활동(문체부) 등 동물복지 관련 정부 정책을 한자리에서 모아놓았다. 동물보호 단체관에서는 주요 동물보호단체와 수의사회 등이 참여해 유실·유기동물 입양절차 등을 소개하고, 특히 어린이들을 대상으로 수의사·보건사·행동지도사 등 반려산업 관련 직업체험관을 운영하고, 숲속 캠핑 체험 및 농장동물 돌봄체험관이 준비되어 주말동안 가족단위 방문을 추천한다. 이와 함께 펫푸드·펫테크·펫헬스케어 등 50여개 기업 및 협회가 참여해 반려동물 건강상담부터, 엑스레이 판독 솔루션, 사료 샘플 체험, 생체인식 서비스, 펫보험‧장례 상담 등 반려동물의 생애주기별 제품 및 서비스를 접해 볼 수 있는 만큼 반려용품 및 서비스에 관심있는 관람객들에게 좋은 기회가 될 것이다. 국민의 일상 속에서 동물복지를 확산하기 위해 동물보호의 날 행사는 지자체와 함께 개최할 계획이고, 부산에서 개최되는 올해 행사에서는 해양도시의 특성을 살려 반려동물과 함께 하는 요트투어와 해변열차 이벤트를 준비한다. 또한 행사 첫날에는 설채현 수의사의 반려견 행동 교정 강연이, 둘째 날에는 반려가족 100팀이 참여하는 반려견 운동회, 반려견 사진 촬영 강의 등 관람객들이 직접 참여할 수 있는 프로그램도 준비했다. 특히 이번 행사는 반려동물과 함께 참여할 수 있도록 통로를 넓게 확보하고, 행사장 곳곳에 반려동물 휴게공간과 전용 화장실을 마련했으며, 반려동물이 자유롭게 뛰어놀 수 있는 전용 놀이터도 갖추었다. 송미령 장관은 “반려가구가 늘어나면서, 반려동물은 이제 우리 사회의 일상과 문화, 경제를 바꾸는 주인공이 되고 있다”며, “이재명 정부의 국정과제로 사람과 동물이 더불어 행복한 사회가 선정된 만큼, 정부는 동물복지 기반을 확충하고, 반려동물 양육비 부담 완화와 책임 있는 반려문화 확산 등 국민이 일상 속에서 체감할 수 있는 동물복지 정책을 추진해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

  • 서대문구, 초등 1~4학년생 대상 동물보호 교실 운영
    지난해 서대문구 어린이 동물보호교실 모습 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 서대문구가 올해 3∼12월 관내 초등학교 1~4학년생을 대상으로 ‘찾아가는 어린이 동물보호 교실’을 운영한다. 어린이들에게 동물보호와 생명존중의 중요성을 일깨우고 동물에 대한 올바른 태도와 가치를 알려주기 위해 추진한다. 동물보호교육 전문기관인 ㈜한국어질리티연합이 학교를 방문해 교실이나 강당, 운동장 등에서 진행한다. 총 100개 반을 대상으로 각각 50분씩 열리며 동물의 행동언어, 동물등록의 중요성, 동물의 생명과 권리 존중 등의 내용을 다룬다. 어린이들은 강아지와 함께 어질리티(agility, 장애물 달리기) 훈련을 통해 반려견과 상호작용하며 동물의 행동언어를 배우고 동물에 대한 친밀감과 책임감을 기른다. 아울러 동물 안전사고 예방과 기본 펫티켓에 대한 교육도 함께 이루어진다. 구는 이번 프로그램이 동물과 함께 살아가는 삶의 중요성을 인식하게 하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다. 교육 희망 학교는 신청서를 이메일로 내면 되는데 자세한 내용은 서대문구청 반려동물지원과로 문의하면 된다. 이성헌 서대문구청장은 “어린이들이 이번 교실을 통해 동물의 소중함과 생명의 가치를 이해하고 애완동물을 기를 때 지켜야 할 공공 예절도 익힐 수 있길 기대한다”고 말했다.

    K-펫푸드 전문기업 우리와주식회사(이하 우리와)가  유기동물들의 인식개선을 위한 공익법인 ‘스트리투홈’에  올해 초부터 우리와 브랜드 펫푸드인 ANF, 이즈칸, 프로베스트 등의 사료와 간식을 기부했다.  우리와는 유기동물들에대한 인식을 바로잡아 입양률을 높히고 안락사를 최소화시켜 동물들이 마땅히 누려야 할 권리를 되찾아주는  스트리투홈에 적극적 지원과 아울러 보호쉼터의 청소, 봉사 등도 계획중이라고 밝혔다.   우리와는 스트리투홈 가족인 유기동물들이 따뜻한 겨울을 지낸 후 평생가족을 만날 수 있기를 기원하며 260kg의 고양이 사료를 스트리투홈에 기부했다.  농림축산식품부 소관 공익법인 스트리투홈 송인선 (캐나다국인- Alicia Song) 이사장은 ' 쉼터에는 약 80마리가량의 구조동물들이 있으며 하나하나 너무나 사랑스럽고 사람의 손길을 간절하게 원한며 특히 겨울철 영양 관리가 정말 중요해서 기호성 좋은  사료를 후원받아 구조된 고양이들이 영양가 높은 고품질 사료를 줄 수 있게되어 매우 기쁘다고 밝혔다.   우리와가 기부하는 사료는 자체 생산 시설인 ‘우리와 펫푸드 키친’의 최신 설비와 엄격한 품질 관리를 통해 생산되었고 업계 최초로 전 제품 품질책임제를 시행하여 신선하고 안전한 펫푸드를 제공하기 위해 힘쓰고 있다. 우리와 관계자는 “유기동물들은 집에있는 반려가족과 다를바가 없고 유기동물들이 어디서든 건강하고 행복한 삶을 살아가길 바라는 마음으로 올해도 꾸준히 유기동물 보호 단체 지원 활동을 이어 나갈 예정 이라며 “신선하고 안전함은 물론 맛과 영양면에서도 우수한 먹거리를 제공할 수 있도록 더 고민하고 연구하겠다”고 전했다.     스트리투홈 송인선 이사장은 "대한민국 국민 4명당 1명정도가 반려동물을 키우고 있고 지난해에도 약 11만마리 이상의 동물들이 유기되어 구조되었다. 소중한 생명들이 마땅히 누려야 할 삶을 못 누리고 무차별적으로 삶을 마감하게 되지 않도록 유기동물들의 인식을 바로잡아 반려인들 또는 미래 반려인들이 반려가족을 유기하는 일이 없도록 만전을 기할 것이다" 라고 밝혔다. 우리와는 정기적으로 동물보호단체나 유기동물 인식개선을 위한 단체에 펫푸드를 기부하는 한편 봉사활동, 사료 기부 마라톤 행사를 진행하는 등 반려동물 복지 개선을 위한 사회적인 책임을 다하기 위해 힘쓰고 있다.

  • 농림축산식품부, '사람과 동물이 모두 행복한 동물복지 선진국' 우리가 함께 만들어 갑니다!
    제3차 동물복지 종합계획으로 달라지는 점 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부는 '제3차 동물복지 종합계획(2025~2029)'을 발표하여 향후 5년간 동물복지 정책의 비전과 방향을 제시했다. 종합계획을 수립을 시작한 지 10년이 지난 만큼 이번 종합계획은 동물보호단체, 산업계, 전문가, 학계 등 분야별 관계자들과 30여 차례 이상의 간담회, 이슈별 협의체 등을 운영하며 그간의 동물복지 정책을 평가하고, 앞으로의 정책 방향과 세부 과제를 마련했다. 이번 종합계획의 주요 특징은 ① 동물등록제, 지자체 동물보호센터 등 그간 도입한 제도들의 이행력을 제고하고, ② 사육금지제, 입양 전 교육 의무화 등과 같이 사전예방적 정책을 도입하는 한편, ③ 현장의 노하우를 갖고 있는 민간 단체와의 협력을 통해 정책 집행의 시너지 효과를 창출하고, ④ 반려인과 반려동물, 비반려인이 조화롭게 공존하는 문화조성을 통해 동물복지에 대한 사회적 공감대를 확산해 나가고자 했다. 주요 내용은 아래와 같다. 첫째, 동물학대 및 유기·유실 예방조치를 강화하기 위해 사육금지제도 도입을 추진하고 유기행위 관련 법령을 정비한다. 동물 사육금지로 인한 기본권 침해 소지를 최소화하면서 실효성을 확보할 수 있는 방향으로 동물 사육금지제도를 도입하기 위해 관계기관, 동물보호단체, 전문가의 의견수렴을 통해 사육금지 세부 기준을 마련할 계획이다. 또한, 동물 학대 범죄에 대한 ‘솜방망이 처벌’이 발생하지 않도록 양형기준을 마련할 계획이다. 한편, 동물병원·호텔 등에 반려동물을 맡기고 찾아가지 않거나, 방치하고 소유자가 이사하는 등의 사례가 발생함에 따라 유기 행위에 대한 소유자의 책임을 명확히 하고, 처벌도 강화할 계획이다. 최근 증가하고 있는 길고양이 민원 관련해서는 개체 수 및 분포, 중성화 사업 효과성 평가 등에 대한 실태조사를 실시하고, 이를 바탕으로 밀집 지역 대상으로 중성화 사업을 집중 추진하여 개체수를 관리하고, 지자체, 캣맘, 지역주민들이 함께 하는 사회적 협의체를 운영, 소통의 장을 마련하여 사회적 갈등을 완화해 나가고자 한다. 둘째, 동물등록 활성화, 유기·유실 동물의 구조·보호 역량 제고 등 동물복지 정책 인프라를 강화할 계획이다. 유기·유실 및 불법판매 등의 문제를 해결하기 위해 동물등록 의무를 모든 개를 대상으로 확대하고, 제외지역도 단계적으로 폐지해 나갈 계획이다. 이를 위해 현재 내장형, 외장형 등록방식 외에도 등록을 쉽게 할 수 있도록 비문(鼻紋)과 같은 생체인식 정보 활용 여건을 조성한다. 지역 주민들의 반대로 설치, 운영에 어려움이 있는 지자체 동물보호센터는 유기·유실 동물들의 구조, 보호 활동에 중요한 역할을 수행하는 만큼 반려견 훈련·교육장, 야외놀이터, 카페 등 부대 시설을 조성할 수 있도록 지침을 변경하여 주민들의 접근성을 높이고, 현장의 노하우를 갖고 있는 민간단체의 참여를 확대한다. 셋째, 정책 홍보, 현장 모니터링 등에 민관협업을 강화하고, 교육 확대, 개 식용 종식과 반려견 안전관리 등을 통해 반려 문화를 더욱 확산한다. 올해부터 시행되는 법정 ‘동물보호의 날’은 농식품부-지자체-민간단체가 함께 준비하고 관련 기업, 단체, 기관이 모두 참여, 축하하는 행사로 추진하고 통일된 메시지를 전달하여 동물복지에 대한 국민적 인식을 확산해 나가고자 한다. 책임감 있는 돌봄 문화 확산을 위해 반려동물(개·고양이) 입양 전 교육을 의무화하고, 동물복지에 대한 사회 감수성을 높이기 위해 ‘찾아가는 동물사랑 배움학교’ 운영을 지속 확대하고, 올해부터는 초등학교 늘봄학교 및 중학교, 2026년부터는 고등학교까지 교과과정에 동물복지 교육과정을 도입한다. 또한, 개물림 사고건수를 낮추기 위해 사고 유형 및 위험도를 분석하고, 교육훈련, 임시보호 등 관리방식을 개선하고, 맹견 사육허가제의 이행력을 제고하기 위해 중성화 수술 요건을 완화하는 등 제도 개선도 준비하고 있다. 넷째, 생산업‧판매업 등 반려동물 영업장 동물의 복지수준을 높이고, 동물 의료의 전문성‧신뢰성 확보를 위해 의료체계를 정비하는 한편, 연관산업의 육성 기반을 마련한다. 반려동물 영업장에서 발생하는 동물 학대를 예방하기 위해 생산업 동물 관리 기준을 상향하고, 생산·수입·판매·전시업 갱신제를 도입하고, 거래에 따른 분쟁을 방지하기 위해 판매업 표준계약서 마련할 계획이다. 또한, 동물의 불법 유통과 사기 분양 등을 방지하기 위해 생산업의 부모견과 자견의 번호를 연계 관리하고, 입양자에게 상세정보를 제공하도록 한다. 또한, 수요가 증가하는 펫시터, 호텔 등 위탁관리업과 미용업에 대해 출장영업형태까지 확대하고, 성숙한 반려동물 장례문화 확산을 위해 장례식장의 입지조건 완화, 수목장 도입, 지역주민 지원근거 마련 등을 추진한다. 한편, 동물병원 선택의 어려움을 돕기 위해 진료분야가 특화되는 수의전문의를 양성하고, 증상 정도에 따라 진료를 받을 수 있는 상급병원‧전문병원 등 동물의료체계를 구축하고 이러한 내용을 담은 ｢제1차 동물의료 육성·발전 종합계획｣을 6월에 발표할 예정이다. 마지막으로, 펫푸드·펫테크와 같은 연관산업 육성을 위해 ｢(가칭)반려동물 연관산업 육성 법률｣을 제정하고, 반려동물 사료의 분류·표시·영양 등 별도 기준도 도입한다. 박정훈 동물복지환경정책관은 “이번 종합계획은 그간 도입한 제도들이 현장에서 제대로 작동할 수 있도록 내실을 다지는데 중점을 두었다.”라며, “동물복지법으로 체계 개편, 동물복지 관련 재원 마련 등과 같이 사회적 공감대 형성이 필요한 문제들에 대해서도 지속 논의하고 동물보호단체, 관련 협회 및 기업 등과도 긴밀하게 소통하며, 국민의 눈높이에 맞는 정책을 추진해 나가겠다.”라고 전했다.

  • 농림축산식품부, 개사육농장 10곳 중 4곳 문 닫았다
    개사육농장 사육 규모별 폐업 현황 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부는 '개의 식용 목적의 사육·도살 및 유통 등 종식에 관한 특별법'시행(2024.8.7.) 반년 만에 전체 개사육농장(1,537호)의 40%에 달하는 623호가 폐업했으며, 2025년까지 총 60% 가량(938호) 폐업할 전망이라고 밝혔다. 농장 규모별로 보면 상대적으로 폐업이 용이한 소농(300두 이하) 뿐만 아니라 중·대농에서도 조기 폐업에 적극 참여 중인 것으로 나타난다. 300두 초과 중·대농(538호)의 32.3%(174호)가 폐업을 완료했으며, 60.4%(325호)가 연내 폐업할 예정으로 개식용종식이 큰 차질 없이 이행될 것으로 보인다. 한편, 농식품부는 지자체와 협력하여 조기 폐업한 농장에 대해 폐업 지원 절차를 신속히 추진하고 전업 역량 강화를 위한 컨설팅을 지원할 계획이며, 관계 법령 위반으로 폐업 지원 대상에서 배제되어 폐업 이행에 소극적인 농장에 대해서는 정기적으로 사육 규모 변동, 사육시설 증설 여부 등을 집중 전수 점검하며 조기 폐업 참여를 지속 독려하겠다는 방침이다. 농식품부 박정훈 동물복지환경정책관은 “2027년까지 모든 농장이 빠짐없이 전·폐업을 이행할 수 있도록 지원하는 동시에 철저히 점검할 것”이라며, “우리나라가 동물복지 선진국으로 거듭날 수 있도록 관련 업계에서도 정부 시책에 적극 협조해 줄 것”을 당부했다.

  • 농림축산식품부, 국내 첫 반려동물행동지도사 356명 배출
    농림축산식품부 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부는 지난 8월부터 11월까지 2단계에 거쳐 시행한 제1회 반려동물행동지도사 자격시험 2급(이하 시험) 최종 합격자 356명을 확정하여 12월 30일 발표했다. 제1회 반려동물행동지도사 2급 자격시험은 1차 필기시험과 2차 실기시험으로 구성되어 있으며, 1차 필기시험은 전국 6개 권역, 11개 시험장에서 시행됐고 1,905명의 응시자 중 1,733명이 합격했다. 이후 진행된 2차 실기시험은 전국 6개 권역, 13개 시험장에서 시행됐으며, 768명이 응시하여 최종 356명이 합격했다. 제1회 자격시험의 최연소 합격자는 18세, 최고령 합격자는 56세였으며, 여성 합격자 비율이 53%로 조금 더 높았다. 개인별 합격 여부는 반려동물행동지도사 자격정보시스템에서 확인할 수 있다. 농림축산식품부 박정훈 동물복지환경정책관은 “이번 자격시험을 통해 배출된 행동지도사들이 건전한 반려동물 양육문화 조성에 전문적인 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.”라며, “향후 반려동물의 행동 문제를 해결하고, 반려동물과의 건강한 공존을 위한 중요한 역할을 할 것”이라고 전했다.

  • 사회적약자 반려동물 위탁보호부터 장례까지 서울시가 도와드려요
    사회적약자의 반려견 장례 지원 포스터 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 서울시가 반려동물 양육에 어려움을 겪고 있는 사회적약자를 위한 ‘우리동네 펫위탁소’를 저소득층은 물론 장기외출 시 반려동물을 맡길 곳이 마땅치 않은 1인 가구까지 지원 범위를 넓힌다고 밝혔다. 또한 취약계층이 키우던 반려동물 사망 시 장례 비용 지원도 대폭 늘린다. 서울시는 사회적약자들의 정서 안정에 도움을 주고 있는 반려동물 돌봄에 대한 부담을 줄여줘 유실·유기를 방지하고 올바른 반려동물 문화를 정착이 목적이다. 서울시는 2022년부터 사회적약자의 반려동물을 위탁 보호하는 ‘우리동네 펫위탁소’를 운영하고 있으며, 올해는 8개구(강북‧동작‧서대문‧성북‧강남‧광진‧송파‧강서)와 협력하여 자치구 내 18개를 지정‧운영하고 있다. ‘우리동네 펫위탁소’는 사회적약자의 반려동물 돌봄 위탁을 위해 자치구에서 지정한 관내 동물위탁관리업체로 참여 자치구별로 1개소 이상 지정되어 있다. 이용자들의 만족도가 높은 사업인 만큼, 서울시는 참여 자치구와 펫위탁소를 점차 늘려나갈 예정이다. 특히 올해는 추석 연휴를 앞두고 기존 저소득층(기초생활수급자, 차상위계층, 한부모가족)뿐 아니라, 장기외출 시 다른 지역으로 동물을 함께 데려갈 수 없는 1인가구까지 지원대상을 확대 운영한다. ‘우리동네 펫위탁소’ 는 사회적약자가 장기외출 등 반려동물(반려견, 반려묘) 위탁돌봄이 필요할 때 이용할 수 있는 동물위탁관리서비스로, 그간 기초생활수급자, 차상위계층, 한부모가족 대상으로 지원해주고 있었다. 외로움을 느끼기 쉬운 1인가구에게 함께 살아가는 반려동물은 친구 또는 가족으로서 정서적 공감을 나눌 수 있는 존재이다. 정서적 안정 등 긍정적 영향을 끼치고 있는 반려동물의 위탁보호 지원으로 동물이 적절한 관리와 보호를 받게 할 뿐만 아니라 1인 가구의 정신적‧신체적 건강 등 삶의 질까지 향상될 것으로 기대한다. 2023년 서울서베이 조사결과, 1인가구의 반려동물 보유율은 16.9%로 나타났다.(전체 가구의 보유율은 18.9%) 2023 한국반려동물 보고서(KB금융지주) 결과, 반려동물 혼자 있는 비중이 1인가구에서 높았으며(85.5%), 반려가구 53.3%는 반려동물을 혼자두는 것을 걱정했고 47.8%는 여행을 포기한 적도 있는 것으로 나타났다. 지원대상은 사업 참여 자치구에 주민등록을 두고 개 또는 고양이를 기르는 기초생활수급자‧차상위계층‧한부모가족‧1인가구이며, 이용을 원한다면 본인이 속한 자치구 담당 부서에 사전 문의 후 증빙서류(반려견의 경우 동물등록증 포함)를 갖춰 반려동물과 함께 자치구가 지정한 동물위탁관리업체에 직접 방문하면 된다. 반려견은 반드시 동물등록이 되어 있어야 한다. 증빙서류는 지원대상자 자격요건 확인을 위한 서류로 기초생활수급자 증명서‧차상위계층 확인서‧한부모가족 증명서(저소득층), 주민등록등본(1인가구) 등이다. 반려동물 위탁보호 지원기간은 저소득층(기초생활수급자, 차상위계층, 한부모가족)의 경우 마리당 최대 10일, 1인 가구는 마리당 최대 5일까지 무료로 이용할 수 있다. 경제적 상황을 고려하여 저소득층은 이용 횟수 제한이 없으나, 1인 가구의 경우 보다 많은 가구 지원 혜택을 위해 반기별 1회 이용 가능 또한 서울시는 경제적 부담으로 동물 장례를 적절히 치르지 못하고 있는 저소득층(기초생활수급자, 차상위계층, 한부모가족)을 대상으로 경제적 부담을 줄이고 추모 등 건전한 장례문화 확산을 위해 반려견 기본장례서비스를 지원하고 있다. 서울시에 주민등록이 되어있는 기초생활수급자, 차상위계층, 한부모가족이 지원대상이며, 대상자 소유 동물로 등록된 반려견만 가능하다. 기본동물장례서비스를 지원하며, 주관업체인 ㈜21그램그룹과 협력하여 지원대상자는 동물의 무게와 관계없이 반려견 기본장례를 5만원에 이용할 수 있도록 했다. 지원대상자가 반려견 장례비 지원을 받으려면, 반려동물 장례식장 21그램의 상담전화로 우선 문의하여 장례‧상담 접수 후, 안내받은 증명서류를 지참하여 21그램의 장례식장 3개 지점 중 한 곳에 방문하면 된다. 사랑하는 반려동물과의 마지막 이별을 동물장례의 경제적 부담으로 불법 매장하거나 종량제 봉투에 넣어 처리할 수밖에 없는 실정을 해소하고 추모예식 등 건전한 장례문화를 확산하기 위함이다. 2021년 서울시 조사결과 반려동물 사체를 불법매장 등 처리하는 경우는 18.7%, 종량제 봉투로 처리하는 경우는 13.1%나 되는 것으로 조사됐다. 이수연 정원도시국장은 “약자의 경제적‧심리적 부담을 덜고 사회적 약자들이 반려동물과 보다 행복한 삶을 살아갈 수 있도록 우리동네 펫위탁소와 반려견 장례지원 사업을 운영한다”며, “반려동물이 교감을 통해 정서적 안정 등 긍정적 효과를 미치는 만큼 앞으로도 동물과 함께 행복한 서울을 조성해 나가도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

    스트리투홈, `세계 동물의 날` 기념 유기동물 후원 바자회 개최 사단법인 글로벌동물권인식개선협회 스트리투홈은 '세계 동물의 날'을 기념해 유기동물들을 위한 기업후원 바자회를 연다고 27일 밝혔다. 이번 행사는 다음달 28일 경기 성남 수정구 살롱드사송 카페에서 오후 2시부터 5시까지 열린다. 접수는 이달부터 다음달 6일까지 받는다. 반려동물 사료업체 네츄럴코어와 주한 네덜란드 경제인협회 등이 후원하는 이번 행사에는 오스람코리아, 불가리코리아, 인피니언 테크놀로지스, 에이엘, (주)애니픽, 삼영비앤에프, 아인솝, 니오라 ACN, 버박코리아, 지에프머시닝(GF machining), 미려코스메틱등도 참여한다.  바자회에서 모여진 후원금은 전액 유기동물 사상충 치료와 관리 비용으로 쓰여질 예정이다. 후원사로 참여하는 주한 네덜란드 경제인협회의 안드레아 바르케비서 회장은 "네덜란드에는 유기동물이 없는 나라"라면서 "네덜란드에는 동물학대 범죄를 전문적으로 다루는 경찰팀이 있을 정도로 동물법이 강화돼 있고, 예비 반려인을 대상으로 체계적인 교육도 실시해 유기동물 발생을 방지한다. 한국도 '유기동물이 없는 나라'가 되기를 바라는 마음으로 참여한다"고 전했다. 이번 행사에 참여하는 후원기업 네츄럴코어는 "유기동물들을 도울 수 있는 뜻깊은 행사에 함께하게 되어 정말 기쁘고 이번 행사를 통해 많은 구조견, 구조묘들이 평생 가족을 꼭 만날 수 있길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 유기동물을 위한 지원과 반려동물 복지를 위한 인식 개선을 위해 노력하겠다”고 전했다.  네츄럴코어는 이번 행사를 통하여 입양까지 이어지게 되는 반려가족에게 1년간 사료를 지원할 예정이다.   송인선 스트리투홈 대표는 "지난 5년간 개인 활동가로 유기동물 보호 일을 해오다 비영리 사단법인을 설립했다. 이번 바자회는 유기동물들의 실태를 알리고 그들이 새가족을 찾는 뜻깊고 의미있는 행사로 준비하고 있다"고 말했다.

  • 농림축산식품부, 사람과 동물이 함께 행복한 세상을 주제로 한 '제17회 동물사랑 사진 공모전' 수상작 발표
    '제17회 동물사랑 사진 공모전' 사진 부문 수상작(농식품부장관상, 스마트폰 사진 작품명 : 말아일체) [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부 농림축산검역본부는 ‘사람과 동물이 함께 행복한 세상(One Welfare)’을 주제로 개최한'제17회 동물사랑 사진 공모전' 수상작을 선정했다. 이번 공모전에서 사진 작품은 1,210건이 접수됐고, 올해 처음 신설한 영상(숏폼) 부문은 40건 접수됐다. 이후 주제 적합성, 작품성 등을 평가하기 위해 대국민 심사와 대학 교수 등 전문가들이 심사위원으로 참여한 서면 심사, 현장 심사를 거쳐 최종 수상작을 선정했다. 사진 부문 대상은 최은택 님이 스마트폰으로 촬영한 ‘말아일체’이며, 사람과 말이 물속에 들어가서 교감하는 모습을 담았다. 심사위원들은 해당 작품이 소재적으로도 특별하고 색감과 구성 능력이 뛰어나다고 평가했다. 최우수상은 김택수 님이 출품한 ‘어머니의 망중한’으로 일상 속의 강아지와 고양이가 친근한 모습으로 할머니와 함께 포착된 작품이다. 우수상은 이상훈 님의 ‘마주보기’와 박호광 님의 ‘굿모닝’, 오승현 님의 ‘바다보다 사랑해’가 선정됐으며, 장려상은 최점숙 님의 ‘엄마~! 나도 강아지 키우고 싶어요’, 최태희 님의 ‘함께 나누는 간식시간’ 외 4점이 선정됐다. 또한, 올해 신설된 영상(숏폼) 부문의 최우수상에는 거리에서 만난 동물들과 행복한 모습을 담은 한지현 님의 ‘거리의 동물 친구들’, 장려상은 백진 님의 ‘사랑받게 된 유기견의 놀라운 변화’, 홍석재 님의 ‘우리들의 성장 일기’가 선정됐다. 수상 작품은 국가동물보호정보시스템에 게시되고 서울 디지털미디어시티역에서 8월 26일부터 9월 1일까지 전시될 예정이며, 반려동물 지역축제 순회 전시 및 동물복지 홍보 자료로 적극 활용할 계획이다. 이동식 동물질병관리부장은 “올해는 국민들이 동물 보호·복지에 더 많은 관심을 가질 수 있도록 사진 이외에도 최근 동향을 반영한 영상(숏폼) 부문을 추가해 다양성을 높였다”라고 하면서, “앞으로도 성숙한 반려동물 문화 조성을 위해 국민이 수상작과 함께할 수 있는 박람회 홍보 전시회를 추진해 나가겠다.”라고 말했다.

  • 서울시보건환경연구원, 대형마트‧동물병원 판매 동물사료 안전성 검사실시… 12종 모두 적합 판정
    서울시청 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 서울시보건환경연구원이 반려동물의 건강과 직결되는 사료에 대한 반려인들의 불안을 줄이기 위해 시중 유통사료를 대상으로 정밀검사를 실시했다. 검사 결과 12종 사료 모두 사료법 기준 상 적합 판정을 받았다. 검사대상 사료는 총 12종이며 검사항목은 중금속, 곰팡이독소, 바이러스를 비롯해 동물용의약품, 영양성분 등 총 200개다. 보건환경연구원은 반려동물 사료 안전성 강화를 위해 품질검사를 지속적으로 실시하고 있으며 하반기에는 온라인으로 거래되는 좀 더 다양한 반려동물 사료까지 검사 범위를 확대할 계획이라고 덧붙였다. 연구원은 ’19년부터 국내 유통사료에 대한 수거 검사를 실시하고 있다. 올해 상반기에도 총 108개 제품을 수거해 곰팡이독소, 중금속 등 안전 관련과 단백질 등 영양 관련 등 총 5개 항목에 대한 검정을 실시했다. 2024년 서울시 동물보호·복지 시민인식조사 결과 보고서에 따르면 사료의 안전성 관리 강화를 위한 서울시의 역할로 ’사료 품질 검사 확대‘가 1순위로 나타났다. 한편 농림축산식품부 지정 사료 검정기관인 서울시보건환경연구원은 검정 결과에 대한 정확성 및 신뢰도 확보를 위해 매년 AAFCO, FAPAS 등 국제 숙련도 평가기관의 평가 프로그램에 참가해 검사품질 향상에 힘쓰고 있다. 올해 상반기에도 일반성분, 곰팡이독소, 무기물(중금속), 잔류농약 4개 항목에 참가해 모두 ’적합‘ 평가를 받았으며, 하반기에는 식품의약품안전평가원에서 주관하는 숙련도 평가 프로그램에 동물용의약품, 미생물, 보조제 3항목에 참가예정이다. 박주성 서울시보건환경연구원장은 “하반기에는 온라인 및 유통 중인 사료까지 검사대상을 확대하고, 또 사료 관련 사고 발생 시 신속한 원인 규명 및 문제 해결을 위해 체계적인 검사 시스템을 구축 등 반려동물이 안전하고 건강하게 생활할 수 있는 환경을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

  • 농림축산식품부, 개식용종식 해법 구체화한 시행령안 8월 7일 시행
    개식용종식법령 시행 인포그래픽 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부는 국무회의 의결을 거친 '개의 식용 목적의 사육·도살 및 유통 등 종식에 관한 특별법 시행령안'이 8월 7일 시행된다고 밝혔다. 시행령에는 2024년 2월 6일 제정된 '개식용종식법'에서 위임된 사항과 그 시행에 필요한 사항으로 개식용 업계에 대한 전·폐업 지원, 개식용종식 기본계획 수립, 개식용종식위원회의 구성·운영 및 과태료 부과기준 등에 관한 사항이 규정된다. 시행령에 따르면 개사육농장의 경우 폐업 시 폐업의 이행을 촉진하기 위해 산정된 금액, 시설물 잔존가액 및 해당 시설물의 철거가 지원되며, 전업 시에는 전업에 필요한 시설자금 및 운영자금의 융자 지원과 전업을 위한 교육, 훈련, 정보 제공 및 상담(컨설팅) 등이 지원된다. 개식용 식품접객업자의 경우 폐업 시 관련 법률 상담 등 '소상공인 보호 및 지원에 관한 법률' 제12조에 따른 폐업 소상공인에 대한 지원 사업과 연계된 지원을 받을 수 있다. 메뉴‧취급 식육의 종류 변경 등 전업 시에는 시설·물품 등의 교체 비용과 전업한 업종의 식품위생에 관한 정보 제공 및 상담(컨설팅) 등이 지원된다. 시행령의 전·폐업 지원에 관한 내용은 이해관계자와 관계부처, 전문가 등과의 의견수렴을 거쳐 마련됐으며, 관련 단체와 관계부처 등과의 지속적인 협의를 거쳐 지원방안을 보다 구체화하여 오는 9월 '개식용종식 기본계획'을 통해 발표할 계획이다. 박정훈 농식품부 동물복지환경정책관은 “개식용종식법에 따른 운영 신고 및 전‧폐업 이행계획서 제출 등 법을 성실히 이행하여 주시는 관련 업계에 감사의 말씀을 드린다.”라며, “종식 대상 업계 모두가 안정적으로 전‧폐업을 이행할 수 있도록 관련 필요한 사항을 적극 지원하여 법에서 정한 기한인 2027년 2월까지 완전히 개식용 종식이 달성될 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

  • “200m 전방에 동물출현” 실시간 전광판 알림 첨단기술로 동물 찻길사고 예방
    (고도화) 동물 찻길사고 예방 디지털 트윈 시스템(실제 도로상에 나타난 야생동물의 출현정보를 전광판에 알리는 것 뿐만 아니라 야생동물 출현정보(종류, 시간, 구간)를 빅데이터로 분석하여 야생동물 출현 가능성까지 예측(3D 가상화)하여 전광판에 안내) [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 환경부는 포스코디엑스와 7월 26일 이 회사 판교사무소(성남시 분당구 소재)에서 첨단기술을 활용하여 동물 찻길사고 예방을 위한 ‘환경·사회·투명 경영(ESG)’ 협력사업 업무협약을 체결한다고 밝혔다. 이번 협력 사업은 포스코 그룹 계열 정보통신전문업체인 포스코디엑스에서 자체 개발한 ‘동물 찻길사고 예방시스템’을 오대산 국립공원과 경기도 양평군 일대 국도 2곳에 설치·운영하고, 2027년까지 이 시스템을 단계적으로 확대 설치할 예정이다. 아울러 환경부는 산하기관인 국립공원공단 및 국립생태원과 함께 실무협의회를 운영하여 행정적 지원과 생태 자문 등을 실시한다. 국립공원공단은 오대산 등에 설치된 ‘동물 찻길사고 예방시스템’이 제대로 운영될 수 있도록 제반 행정사항을 지원하고, 다른 국립공원 도로에도 확산될 수 있도록 협력한다. 국립생태원은 생태적 자문과 사업 효과성을 분석할 예정이다. ‘동물 찻길사고 예방시스템’은 도로에 출현한 야생동물의 정보를 인공지능 기술로 분석한 후 200m 전방에 설치된 발광다이오드(LED) 전광판에 실시간으로 알려줘 차량 감속을 유도해 사고를 예방한다. 포스코디엑스는 올해 이 시스템을 더욱 고도화하여 야생물의 종류 및 출현시간 등 다양한 정보를 분석한 후 출몰 가능성까지 예측하여 알려주는 기능을 추가할 예정이다. 한편 국립공원공단과 포스코디엑스는 지난해 10월 한려해상 국립공원 도로 1곳에 ‘동물 찻길사고 예방시스템’을 시범적으로 도입하여 올해 5월까지 데이터를 분석했다. 분석 결과, 평균 시속 60.5㎞이었던 차량 속도는 ‘동물 찻길사고 예방시스템’이 적용된 후에 시속 39.1㎞으로 35% 이상 줄었다. 시범 운영 8개월 간 고라니 등 동물출현 건수는 163건 있었으나, 동물 찻길사고는 1건도 발생하지 않아 가시적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 환경부는 이번 협력사업이 동물 찻길사고는 물론 차량파손, 교통사고 등 여러 위협요인을 사전에 차단함으로써 운전자의 안전과 생명을 지키고, 생물다양성 보전에도 기여할 것으로 기대했다. 아울러 사업 효과를 상세하게 분석한 후 효과성이 인정될 경우, 동물 찻길사고 저감대책에 반영하여 전국적으로 확대할 계획이다. 이병화 환경부 차관은 “이번 협력사업이 사람과 자연의 조화로운 공존과 생물다양성 보전을 위한 환경·사회·투명 경영(ESG)의 대표적인 사례로 거듭날 수 있도록 행정 및 기술적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”라고 밝혔다.

    2023년 반려동물 보호‧복지 실태조사 결과(요약) [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부 농림축산검역본부는 '동물보호법'제94조(실태조사 및 정보의 공개)에 따라 실시한 2023년 반려동물 보호·복지 실태조사 결과를 발표했다. 검역본부는 지방자치단체의 동물 등록, 유실·유기동물 구조·보호 및 반려동물 영업 현황 등 반려동물 보호·복지 실태를 매년 조사·발표하고 있다. 2023년 개·고양이 신규등록은 지난해(30만 3천 마리)보다 10.4% 감소한 27만 1천 마리이나, 누적 등록 개체수는 지난해(305만 4천 마리)보다 7.6% 증가한 328만 6천 마리가 됐다. 고양이 등록은 자율적인 선택임에도 동물 유실 방지 등을 위해 신규 등록이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 의무 등록 대상인 개(犬)는 과거에 목걸이형 등 탈착이 쉬운 외장형이 선호됐으나 무선식별장치를 체내에 삽입하는 내장형이 꾸준히 증가하여 외장형과 내장형의 격차가 크게 감소했다. 2023년 신규로 동물 등록한 여성(60.9%)이 남성(38.9%)의 약 1.6배이며, 연령별로 40대 소유자가 25.1%로 가장 많고 그 다음으로 30대(22.1%), 20대(22.0%), 50대(16.2%) 순으로 나타났다. 유실·유기동물의 발견 신고 및 구조는 감소 추세로 2023년은 전년보다 0.3% 감소한 11만 3천 마리를 구조했다. 그 중 4만 4천 마리(39.2%)는 소유자에게 반환되거나 입양·기증됐고 3만 1천 마리(27.6%)는 자연사, 2만 마리(18.0%)는 인도적 처리됐으며 1만 5천 마리(13.3%)는 지자체의 동물보호센터에서 보호되고 있었다. 2023년 구조동물의 입양 개체수는 신규 등록 감소와 함께 전년(3만 1천 마리)보다 12.3% 줄어든 2만 7천 마리로 감소했으나, 2023년 신규 등록 대비 입양 비율은 10.1%로 2022년(10.3%)과 유사하며 2021년(7.4%) 보다 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 동물의 구조·보호를 위해 지자체가 운영하는 동물보호센터는 2023년 228개소로 전년(239개소) 대비 11개소 감소했으나, 지자체가 직접 운영하는 센터는 7개소가 증가했고 종사 인력과 운영비도 전년대비 각각 10.1%, 26.8% 증가하는 등 동물의 구조·보호에 더 많은 관심과 노력을 기울였다. 지자체가 직접 설치·운영하는 동물보호센터는 71개소이고, 동물병원, 동물보호단체 등 자체 시설에 운영을 위탁한 곳이 152개소, 지자체 시설을 이용하여 민간기관에 운영을 위탁한 곳이 5개소였다. 지자체가 도심지나 주택가에서 자연적으로 번식하여 자생적으로 살아가는 고양이 개체수를 조절하기 위한 길고양이 중성화 사업은 전년(10만 4천 마리)보다 16.4% 증가한 12만 2천 마리에 대해 시행됐다. 반려동물 관련 영업장(총8종)은 전년(2만 2천 개소)보다 6.8% 감소한 20,575개소로 나타났다. 동물 미용업이 8,404개소(40.8%)로 가장 많았고, 위탁관리업 4,820개소(23.4%), 판매업 3,154개소(15.3%), 생산업 2,011개소(9.8%), 운송업 1,477개소(7.2%), 전시업 541개소(2.6%), 수입업 94개소(0.5%), 장묘업 74개소(0.4%)가 허가·등록됐다. 그 중 동물 장묘업과 운송업은 매년 증가 추세인 것으로 나타났다. 동물 장묘업이 많이 허가된 지역은 경기도(27개소), 경상남도(9), 경상북도(7) 순이며 장묘시설이 없는 지역은 서울시·대전시·제주도이었다. 또한 지자체는 동물 학대 대응 등 동물보호 업무를 위해 동물보호관 765명을 지정하고 '동물보호법' 위반행위 1,146건을 적발했다. 주요 위반사항은 반려견과 외출할 때 목줄 착용, 인식표 부착 등 위반이 732건(63.9%)으로 가장 많았고 반려견 미등록은 81건(7.1%)으로 나타났다. 김정희 농림축산검역본부장은 “반려동물 양육가구 증가와 함께 동물정보에 대한 관심도 높아지는 추세”라고 하면서 “앞으로 국민이 필요로 하는 정보를 국가동물보호정보시스템을 통해 제공해 나갈 수 있도록 적극 노력하겠다.”라고 말했다.

    2급 반려동물행동지도사 자격시험 [GEN - 주한외국기업뉴스] 농림축산식품부는 올해 새로 시행되는 반려동물행동지도사 자격시험 응시에 필요한 사항을 공고하고 제1회 시험을 시행할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 공고의 주요 내용은 ① 시험일정 및 응시원서 접수 방법, ② 시험과목 및 시험방법, ③ 응시자격, ④ 증빙자료, ⑤ 응시수수료 납부방법, ⑥ 응시자 유의사항 등이다. 반려동물행동지도사 1차 필기시험은 8월 24일에 시행되며, 2차 실기시험은 10~11월 중(추후 공지)으로 시행될 예정이다. 시험 응시를 희망하는 경우 이번 공고를 통해 안내한 일정에 따라 6월 24일부터 7월12일에 걸쳐 응시원서를 접수할 수 있다. 시험은 1차 및 2차 시험으로 구성되며, 1차 필기시험은 반려동물 행동학 등 5개 과목에 대해 선택형으로 시행된다. 2차 실기시험은 응시자 본인 또는 직계가족 소유 6개월령 이상의 반려동물과 동행하여 반려동물 기본 지도능력을 평가한다. 올해는 2급 시험만 시행되며, 2급 시험의 응시자격은 18세 이상이다. 증빙자료, 응시자 유의사항 등 공고 및 원서접수에 대한 사항은 반려동물행동지도사 자격정보시스템을 통해 확인할 수 있으며, 시험 공고는 농식품부 누리집, 농림수산식품교육문화정보원 누리집을 통해서도 확인할 수 있다.

Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  As many people know already Automotive semiconductor supply issue is very serious now days. Semiconductors account for 18% of the total cost of automotive electronics in 2000 but it’s 40% in 2020. The demand has increased significantly but only few foundry companies produce automotive semiconductor because it’s not profitable. It’s expected to continue overeating of automotive semiconductors for a while due to great interest of autonomous driving, electric vehicles and COVID pandemic. To counteract this problem, Infineon is doing the best to find good solutions for our customers. Reporter -  (Lastly, as a mentor who contributes so much to his community, please share with us any wisdom you may have for young job seekers) Mr. Lee Seung Soo:  We are living in an era of rapid change and COVID pandemic has made it harder to get a job. But the economic is slowly recovering and I believe there are opportunities even though it’s a difficult situation. It’s late if you start preparing when the good opportunity happened. You should decide the direction you want to go and make the qualifications and experience to match the job you want. If you decide a job you want to do, I’d like to recommend that you get information about the company you want to work as much as you can. It would be helpful that find the company’s management direction, changes in the industry and company’s outlook. According to the report by the US Federal Reserve, overall industrial production of United States including manufacturing, mining, and utilities fell 11.2% from a month earlier in April. This is the largest decline since the data collection began in 1919 which is 101 years ago from now, and it was even greater than during the Great Depression of 1930s and right after the end of World War II. During the Great Depression, the recession continued for a long time, whereas post COVID-19 shows the characteristics of the so-called sudden stop, which is rapid drop at a stroke. According to global economic indicators, manufacturing output in April fell 13.7% from the prior month, which was also the worst in records dating to 1919. Specifically, Schnatter — who has insisted from the start that the hubbub was the result of a plot against him — now claims his legal team has discovered the existence of a recording of Laundry Service executives speaking among themselves after Schnatter hung up from the infamous conference call on May 22, 2018. According to a July 2018 Forbes report, Schnatter and the ad execs on the call were doing a role-playing exercise that included questions about racism. Asked how he would separate himself from racist groups online, Schnatter reportedly said that KFC founder Colonel Sanders never got backlash for using the N-word — comments that Schnatter later owned up to and said he regretted. “There is no mistaking Laundry Service’s ill-intent,” the court filing adds, alleging that the ad execs plotted to “put Mr. Schnatter in front of a hostile interviewer in front of a live audience to make comments that would inevitably be misconstrued and used against him.” The new filing has been redacted, and doesn’t contain any specific, smoking-gun excerpts from the recording. The tape was made by Tim Polder, a former Laundry Service employee who also gave a deposition about it, according to court documents. Laundry Service argues that details about Polder’s deposition should remain sealed, but Schnatter’s lawyers are asking the court to unseal them to reveal “approximately six lines of testimony from the deposition” discussing that call, according to court papers. Laundry Service, which is part of entertainment mogul Casey Wasserman’s media group, denied it leaked the recording. A spokesperson for Wasserman Media Group declined to comment on Friday.

    The black community’s best chance may be four more years of Trump President Trump's support among black Americans aged 18 to 44 has doubled since he was elected.LightRocket via Getty Images I was recently chatting with a black friend who leans left politically when she said she would like to see President Trump win. I was surprised: She’s spoken out against the president on social media because of some of his past comments, especially when he told the Proud Boys “to stand back and stand by” during the first presidential debate. But my friend, like many young people in the black community, knows about Joe Biden’s history, which should repel far more black voters than Trump’s racially insensitive comments. I’m hardly the only black voter who feels this way. Biden’s policies have devastated the black community. The infamous 1994 crime bill, for example, which Biden authored, cost taxpayers $30 billion yet only reduced violent crime by 1.3 percent — and in the process, sent a shamefully high number of black youths to jail for marijuana crimes that some states have decriminalized. Or take Biden’s provision of a 1986 law that deemed crack cocaine significantly worse than powder cocaine. As a result, whites, who more often used powder cocaine, were treated with leniency, while blacks were disproportionately sent to prison for the same offenses. Given the choice before us, the best thing for the black community may be four more years of Trump. Why? Maybe then black voters will no longer be ignored and taken for granted by Democrats thereby making both parties work for their vote. It’s time to break the back of the Democratic Party and make its leaders actually address the issues that impact black lives. President Trump is not perfect. He has said things that have rightly upset black Americans. But he’s also uplifted the black community through policies like the First Step Act and opportunity zones. In fact, he’s been reaching out to the black community consistently since 2016, looking for ways to tackle issues such as rampant unemployment and prison sentencing disparities, while funding historically black colleges and universities — all of which Joe Biden could have addressed during his half-century in politics. I’ve never seen another president from either party invest so much energy into the black community. As a result, black people are listening. We see this in the polls. Trump’s support among young black voters (aged 18 to 44) has increased from around 10 percent in 2016 to 21 percent, according to UCLA Nationscape’s polling, and I believe the real percentage is even higher. Indeed, I’ve been watching closely on urban social media pages and seeing young African Americans post their support for Trump. Never before have I seen such widespread support among young African Americans for any Republican president. On a recent episode of my podcast, “Outloud with Gianno Caldwell,” football legend Herschel Walker expressed a similar sentiment. He said he gets many calls from players in the NFL who support Trump but cannot publicize their support out of fear of retribution. Polling data shows support for Trump trending upward among black and Hispanic men, many of whom are open to supporting an eager, enthusiastic president as they think the Democratic Party has taken them for granted. The black community has a genuine opportunity in this election. If enough blacks vote for Trump, the black vote will finally be competitive. Politicians will at long last actually care about producing positive results for the black community to woo black voters, rather than treating them as another box to check. The black vote hasn’t been competitive in decades, since Democrat Lyndon Johnson reportedly said, “I will have those n—ers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” For five-plus decades, Republicans haven’t made a sincere effort to counter that monopolistic hubris — until Trump. We have an opportunity to force both parties to offer their best deals to black Americans and improve the black community in a way that has never happened before. It’s time to make the black vote competitive again. The Pennsylvania judge issued a preliminary injunction Friday that will stop US officials from restricting the popular video platform’s web hosting and content delivery after three TikTok users argued that it would stop them from being able to make a living. The judge wrote that because TikTok videos can be deemed “informational materials,” the president’s ban would stop the spread of the videos in addition to blocking “business-to-business transactions.” “[The ban] will have the effect of shutting down, within the United States, a platform for expressive activity used by approximately 700 million individuals globally,” the judge wrote. “Over 100 million of these TikTok users are within the United States, and at least 50 million of these US users use the app on a daily basis.” The judge added that “the Government’s own descriptions of the national security threat posed by the TikTok app are phrased in the hypothetical,” and that they “cannot say the risk presented by the Government outweighs the public interest” in keeping TikTok running. The government parties in the suit — which include President Trump, the Department of Commerce and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross — have argued that the TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has direct ties to officials in Beijing and could siphon personal information from American TikTok users that could then be used against the country. US officials couldn’t immediately be reached for comment about the Friday ruling.

However, the two men are tied in some key states, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, suggesting it may not be a slam dunk. Traders, bankers and wary fund managers told Reuters they are preparing for a wide range of outcomes. One bank’s equities desk has been running drills across major trading hubs in New York, London, Paris and Hong Kong for a variety of scenarios to make sure systems can handle enormous volatility, an executive there told Reuters. That bank has been reaching out to top customers to get a sense of how much they expect to trade and ask whether they need margin limits increased, and to suggest they send orders through approved electronic systems rather than calling, to avoid inadvertent mistakes, the person said. Another global lender hired its own polling firm to check popular assumptions and prepare for unforeseen possibilities, an executive there said. The polling firm’s work underscored the common assumption that Biden is likely to win, but the bank is preparing for other scenarios anyway, said the executive who, like some others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss non-public internal planning. Only the most daring investors are going into Nov. 3 with large trading positions, several sources said. Most do not want to be forced sellers if they get things wrong. Plus, even those who bet correctly risk the chance of a drawn-out election battle where markets flip back and forth for weeks or months. “I don’t think anybody is willing to bet on any particular outcome,” said Peter Kraus, a former executive at Wall Street banks including Goldman Sachs who founded asset management firm Aperture Investors in 2018. “The rational thing to do is to take your risk down.” If Kraus were running a trading desk at a major bank today, he would tell traders to take as neutral a position as possible, he said. “I would much rather be coming into the election with a set of flat positions and liquidity and, if the worst happened, I would be able to service the trading volume,” he said. Since banks began preparing for the election, polls and circumstances have shifted several times – making lenders more jittery about any assumptions, even days before the event. In late September, bankers told Reuters they were prepping for a situation with no clear winner. Volatility has already begun to pick up in equity and currency markets over rising coronavirus statistics, giving some traders and bankers a queasy feeling about the days ahead.
